Recruiting for Uttoxeter Heart of Oak Morris
You can dance the English Morris!
There is no doubt that Morris Dancing is fun to watch and even more fun to do! You can learn to dance too and the Uttoxeter Morris is setting the stage to make it easier to learn for fun or take part as a member of our team.
During the next 12 months Uttoxeter Heart of Oak Morris will be actively promoting participation in Morris Dance.
We intend to develop interest in this ancient dance form in the following areas:
- Recruiting men to add to our own Morris team
- Organising an evening class for ANYONE who would like to learn Morris as an interesting keep-fit activity.
- We will be talking to schools to see how we can develop the Morris as part of a physical education / dance activity for young people.
- We will be developing our literature and information to inform and interest our wider audience.
- Giving talks and lectures (with demonstrations) to any interested groups (Round Tables, WI, Church groups etc).
Anyone who is interested in any of these activities, to either help promote the Morris or who would like to talk to us about a booking or a demonstration, please contact Mac McCoig on mac.mccoig@uttoxetermorrismen.org.uk
Please note that any person wishing to take part in any activities promoted by the Uttoxeter Morris who is under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult relative or guardian.
These recruiting projects have been sponsored by Staffordshire County Council Local Member's Initiative Scheme Grants. We are most grateful to Councilors Atkins and Morrison.
